Dan Turner
Dan is a 1987 Carlisle graduate where he was a four year Varsity
letterman in baseball and a 3 year Varsity letterman in football and
basketball. He was all SWBL for four years in baseball and 3 years in
football. Danny was All State” in baseball and “All Dayton areain
baseball and football. He was SWBL player of the yearin baseball
and football. He was also the quarterback for the first league
championship football team, which went to the OHSAA State Playoffs.
Dan was the recipient of the Virgil Davis Award, CHS Citizenship
Award, Free Press “Athlete of the Year” Award, and Dayton area
“Player of the Year” Award during his high school career. Dan signed a
full scholarship at Iowa State University for baseball.
At Iowa State Dan was a 4 year letterman where he was team captain
his senior season. He was “All Big 8 Conferencehis sophomore and
junior seasons. He set a school record in single season and career
appearances, and has the Big 8save record.
Danny has worked for 22 years in the Carlisle Local School District and
during his tenure he has coached Jr. High football and was the Head
Varsity Baseball coach for 9 years from 1998-2006. During those
years, his teams acquired 2 league titles, 5 sectional titles, 1 district
title, and 1 regional final appearance.
Dan was named “SWBL Baseball Coach of the Year” 3 times as well as
Miami Valley Baseball Coaches Association Coach of the Yearin 2003.
Twenty-two of his former players have gone on to play college baseball.
Dan was Athletic Director at Mechanicsburg Schools for 2 years from
1994-1996 before coming to Carlisle. He was hired by Carlisle Schools
to serve as Assistant Principal in 1996. He currently is the Principal at
Chamberlain Middle School. Dan is married to Carlisle graduate Sonya
Turner; they have two children that are Carlisle graduates Alec and
Ryleigh Turner. Dan is the Son of Danny and Rose Turner.
