1. Overview
SMI Android InstantView
TM
App makes Android device a desktop workstation. Installing this
app and then connecting your Android device to a SMI InstantView dongle or docking. Please
read the following guidance of SMI Android InstantView

App and enjoy our products.
2. Requirements
2.1 Hardware and OS Support
Minimum Hardware Requirements:
A SMI USB Display Adapter.
USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 host port.
Android tablet or phone.
USB Host mode must be enabled on the Android device.
USB OTG cable may be needed if SMI USB Display Adapter doesn’t fit Android device’s
USB port.
OS Support:
Android 7.1 or newer

3. How to Use Android InstantView App
This chapter introduces the functions of SMI Android InstantView App and recommended
steps to use the App.
There are two methods to get the Android InstantView.
Get the App from Google Play Store/Amazon Appstore.
Download the App from: https://www.siliconmotion.com/downloads/index.html:
3.1 Run SMI Android InstantView App
(i) When you run the Android InstantView and plug in SMI USB Display Adapter, App will
request USB device permission to handle SMI USB Display Adapter. Click “OK” to allow
App communicate with SMI USB Display Adapter.
On some models, user can authorize OS always allow App communicate with SMI USB
Display Adapter without prompt.

(ii) App will request recording permission to capture screen. Click “Start now” to permit app
capture screen and display content on SMI USB Display Adapter.
(i) Plug in monitor(s) on SMI USB Display Adapter, and the main frame will display as below.
(ii) You are all set to use the device now.

3.2 Functions of SMI macOS InstantView
3.2.1 Disconnect/Connect the Display
Click “Disconnect” to turn off the monitor.
Click “Connect” to turn on the monitor.

3.2.2 Display Resolution Support
SMI Android InstantView App Supports maximum 1920x1080 output, which depends on the
monitor.
3.2.3 Dual Monitor Support
SMI Android InstantView App Support up to 2 monitors with same display content. SMI
Android InstantView App could shows the status of 2 monitors.
Notes:
Due to device limitations, certain Huawei and Honor series models can only support single
display.

4.1 Special setting of certain models
4.1.1 HUAWEI Models
Huawei OS will automatically kill those apps that quickly consume battery.

4.1.2 VIVO Models
VIVO devices may not recognize SMI USB Display Adapter due to OTG switch off.
Open OTG Switch as following steps:
Enter Settings -> More settings -> OTG -> switch on

4.1.3 OPPO Models
OPPO devices may not recognize SMI USB Display Adapter due to OTG switch off.
Open OTG Switch as following steps:
Enter Settings -> Additional Settings -> Switch on OTG Connection

4.1.4 XiaoMi/RedMi Models
XiaoMi/RedMi device with MIUI 11 or newer needs “Autostart” permission to support running
while system starts.
XiaoMi/RedMi device with MIUI 11 or newer needs “Display pop-up windows while running in
the background” permission to support device plug-n-play without launching SMI InstantView.
Enter Settings -> Apps -> Manage apps -> SMI InstantView
