Since 2000, many
f
actors such as changes in
f
unding sources, increased
f
ederal mandates, an ongoing
work
f
orce crisis and, most recently, the Covid pandemic, have all caused a signi
cant shi
f
t throughout
the developmental disability system in how services and supports are provided and funded. Given these
i
n uences on our service s
y
stem, one could imagine the challenge of charting a course for the next few
y
ears. Balancing all o
f
the elements that have been essential to making the Medina County Board o
f
DD
successful while anticipatin
g
how to remain sustainable and achieve even
g
reater hei
g
hts has pushed our
genc
to look through a new lens at our future.
As we work through this strategic plan over the next three years, our vision is to be the driving
f
orce
f
or
establishing critical collaborations
f
or all our stakeholders and community partners. We will continue to
be focused on our da
y
-to-da
y
relationships with those we serve. We will also be increasing our focus
i
n new areas - communit
y
inclusion, advocac
y
, communit
y
emplo
y
ment, life transitions, service provider
collaboration for qualit
y
services - where our stakeholders have told us through our focus groups and
surveys that are important and meaningful to them.
While we are committed to the vision shared in this plan for the next three
y
ears, we also know that things
can change quickl
y
. We are under no illusions that our e orts will be without challenge, which is wh
y
our
plan is a
exible one. It will allow us to be responsive to challenges and changes which may arise while still
a
dherin
g
to the basic plans vision.
As we work toward our

oals, we do so with the intention of buildin

er, more responsive and
